Economic Independence & Small Business Growth

Economic mobility begins with ownership, access, and the ability to participate in the economy without unnecessary barriers. Our communities need policies that empower entrepreneurs, strengthen local commerce, and create pathways to long-term financial independence.

Priorities:

  • Improve awareness and accessibility of existing small business programs, grants, and financing opportunities so residents can better navigate available resources.
technical assistance, and operational guidance for small businesses in areas such as permitting, compliance, procurement, marketing, and financial planning.
  • Strengthen mentorship, and streamline permitting, licensing, and compliance processes that disproportionately burden small businesses and delay growth.
  • Conduct operational reviews of government systems to eliminate redundant procedures, reduce inefficiency, and improve responsiveness for residents and business owners.
  • Support workforce-to-ownership pathways that help skilled workers transition into business ownership and independent enterprise.
  • Prioritize measurable outcomes and accountability in publicly funded economic development projects to ensure initiatives are completed efficiently and deliver tangible community benefit.
  • Encourage stronger local procurement, community-based commerce, and regional supplier partnerships to improve economic resilience during market disruptions.
